I wish I had a pic to show you, but I can't find one. It's called the "spiral cut". I saw it done on a black min poodle at a creative grooming contest years ago. As far as I remember, basically a thin strip (no more than 1/2" wide) was shaved in a spiral fashion all around the body (just the body - no legs) going from the withers back to the hips, encircling the dog two or three or four times. It was set on a modified puppy clip, and it really looked cool.

That spiral cut was basically the first creative style ever done in any grooming competiton.  I just got a cream/buff colored toy poodle and I'm leaning toward anything in that Japanese line of grooms.  I want something different that stands out from the crowd, too.  I love the full faces and bell-bottom legs without shaved feet.

I think I could have a better chance of finding a pic of the spiral cut if I knew what year that was - do you remember the year?

the Spiral cut was done in the 80's. It was popular when I was in grooming school in Boston.
